Hi! After telling you information bout the Philippine theater and theaters in Belgium, Let me share to you now the theater in Cambodia. Well, I do not know a lot of things regarding Cambodia's theater arts. Let me just share to you what I do know. I hope you like it. :-)
The theater of Cambodia is known as Lakhon. It is composed of different genres like classical, folk and modern. Many of the performances in Cambodia are based on dancing. They are referred as dance drama.
Here are some of the dramas in Cambodia:
- Lakhon Preah Reach Trop is the main form of classical dance drama of Cambodia. This is being patronized by the royalty.
- Lakhon Khol is a play that features only men. It is a dance drama wherein mask is being used.
- Lakhon Pol Srey is a dance and classical theater that features women. Unlike any other play, the dancers of this play also serve as narrators while the rest of the dancers continue the dance.
- Lakhon Berk Bat is a theater form that emphasized beauty. Characters should be beautiful and should have talent in acting, singing and dancing.
- Lakhon Nang Sbek is the puppet theater show of Cambodia.
- Lakhon kamnap is the poetic theater of Cambodia
- Lakhon mahori it is consists of folkloric dance.
